From Judy Gilleland
We will be requesting three change orders by emergency legislation at the next council meeting for this project. As Council may recall from our presentation at the last council meeting, this project is administered by Atrium Medical Center and is being run through the city acting as the fiscal agent. We are nearing the end of construction and as such, our timeline is very tight.
Staff has been requested by Atrium/Greentree Project Manager John McKinney to process three change orders for Quandel Construction totaling $200,000. The orders are for electric and data drops, weather impact allowances, server equipment, safety, and security. These change orders are within budget. City procedures state that a change order increasing the cost of the contract requires legislation, which would mean a 45 day waiting period to get paid. In our efforts to remain business friendly and keep this project on schedule, we will request these be processed as emergency. We anticipate bringing the audio visual/IT contract to Council in a similar manner when the bids are received, and we also expect that in July, there may be additional change orders since we will be completing the project.
