Female Pirates Subject of April 24 Lecture |
Monday, April 10, 2006 3:26:58 PM - Middletown Ohio |
Tamara Eastman, author of The Pirate Trial of Anne Bonny and Mary Read, will speak at a Women's History Month program at Miami University Middletown on Tuesday, April 24 at 2 p.m. in Levey Hall Room 100.
Eastman will introduce a little known chapter of women's history: the story of real-life pirates of the Caribbean Anne Bonny and Mary Read. Piracy was an enormous problem during much of early American history. Bonny and Read ignored the social conventions of their day, dressed up as men and became infamous outlaws on the high seas.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (513) 727-3431. |
