While I agree that Central Avenue probably cannot support retail from the railroad tracks to the river and that some buildings do need to come down, the city tried this in the 1970s and failed miserably. | 11/21/2009 9:44:27 AM | Gregg Nicholl | More madness and a waste of taxpayer dollars. Try focusing upon the job situation and developing a business-friendly environment (i.e. low taxes)that will attract new business to the city. Without businesses and the jobs they provide, demolishing buildings downtown will only have the effct of producing one giant flat parking lot that will not be filled with cars, but with weeds. |
