CVB offering Grants to bring Visitors
Tuesday, January 10, 2006 4:04:02 PM - Middletown Ohio

MIDDLETOWN CVB OFFERS GRANTS TO NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION BRINGING VISITORS TO MIDDLETOWN

The deadline to submit a request for grant money from the Middletown Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB) is 5 p.m., February 1, 2006.  Grants are awarded to  local non-profit organizations presenting events and performances in Middletown. Grants are to be used to market Middletown events or attractions to individuals and groups outside Middletown in an attempt to bring entertainment dollars to Middletown.

A portion of the 3% bed tax paid by guests who stay in the 12 Middletown hotels is used to fund the CVB and its grant program. CVB grants are used to encourage guests from other communities to visit Middletown, buy admission tickets to local events, eat in local restaurants, stay in Middletown hotels, shop in retail stores or buy a tank of gasoline thus adding to the Middletown economy. Visitor purchases support local businesses and organizations and the taxes they pay on their purchases help the state and local governments.

The CVB board makes grant awards twice yearly—in February and August. Groups may apply for another grant once all reports have been submitted for any prior grant received from the CVB.

Grant application forms are available through the CVB office by calling 513-422-3030 or via email to info@visitMiddletown.org. Deadline for grants is 5 p.m. on the first business day of February and August.  Those planning to apply for grants are urged to request a new grant form since changes have been made since the last grant cycle.

Other services provided by the CVB include maintaining the local community calendar of events and meetings, supplying maps and visitor guides, encouraging planners to hold conventions and meetings in Middletown and advertising Middletown events and hotels to potential visitors.
