Butler County Taking Steps For Foster Child Safety |
Tuesday, July 31, 2007 8:36:53 AM - Middletown Ohio |
Commissioners voted Monday to implement a new measure that will go a long way towards preventing foster child abuse in Butler County. $25,000 annually is being paid to join the Montgomery County CJIS system.
The CJIS system works as follows; each morning, beginning Wednesday, the names of individuals entered from 12 court and law enforcement agencies will be cross-checked with names of Butler County foster parents. Should any of the names match, an instant e-mail will be sent to Children Services. An additional six agencies are expected to begin entering names by the end of the year.
Should any of the matching names belong to a foster parent that has commited a crime that endangers children, the foster children will automatically removed. Should any of the mathcing names belong to a foster parent who has been arrested for a minor crime, an assessment will be made by Children Services staff.
