After some worry as to the fate of the long cherished Derrico-Jackson community egg hunt this year (as well as future years), it turns out that the event will live on, thanks to Derrico family members and leaders within the community. Concern for the event's fate was ignited when Walter and Roberta Derrico announced, with definitude, that they could not organize the event this year due to failing health.
Upon hearing this the community has stepped forward, and many calls have gone to Dora Bronston, who is Walter's sister, enlisting her help and admonishing her and her family to continue its legacy. With the help of John Derrico and Pat Caldwell, this continuity of community tradition will remain, which is no doubt a positive thing for community children and families.
The 15th annual Derrico-Jackson Easter Egg Hunt will be held on April 23 at the community center.
