FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE BOARD
July 21, 2006
BARGAINING UPDATE
We met today with the Company for approximately 1 ˝ hours. The Company presented us with a counterproposal which contained no economic changes from their last proposal, and only modest changes to a limited number of non-economic items. The Executive Committee is meeting internally to discuss our next proposal to the Company.
BUTLER TENTATIVE AGREEMENT
Yesterday we distributed a side-by-side comparison of the Butler Tentative Agreement, the Ashland contract, our last proposal to the Company, and the Company’s last proposal to us (this comparison is still valid – the proposal we received from the Company today contained no economic changes). The United Auto Workers achieved a labor agreement superior to the agreement obtained at Ashland by the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union, AFL-CIO-CLC. And remember, we labor under the burden of the Ashland “me too” clause which only applies to Middletown (why did they do that?). We encourage you to review a copy.
ELECTION UPDATE
We remind you that the NLRB election will be held over two days at VFW Post 3809, 5049 Central Avenue, Middletown, Ohio: Wednesday, July 26 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Thursday, July 27 from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Please remember to bring valid identification. Also, please do not park at the bowling alley on Wednesday – there will be league play.
REMEMBER, WE ENDORSE THE IAM.
